FROM OWN GARDEN
1 small windmill and 155 solar panels
Our dairy farming started in 1999, after a land consolidation with my brother,” says Smit. It eventually led to the construction of a windmill and the installation of solar panels.
But when the permit was finally completed, there was nothing left to stand in the way of the installation. He outlines how his dairy farming has grown over the years into a company with about 120 cows and 2 milking robots. That led him to build a windmill and install solar panels.

DAIRY FARM IN STAPHORST
1 small windmill and 42 solar panels
“Our main goal is to save energy and to contribute to more sustainable business operations,” explains Haasjes about the choice for renewable energy. Public debate about sustainable energy sources and the ambition to be self-sufficient stimulated Haasjes to have a windmill and solar poles installed. ” Moreover, Bestwatt was able to offer a total picture with the windmill desired by Haasjes and the coveted solar panels. “If it pays off, we’ll have more solar panels installed.

“Security for my success”
“I have a strong wind site where the robust technology of the turbine is most important. I also opted for BestWatt because I knew that I needed a supplier for a small wind turbine who, with a professional overall concept, also managed to get a permit at this location in the immediate vicinity of a bird sanctuary, which is difficult to obtain.”

DAIRY FARM IN DALFSEN
2 small windmills and solar panels
When the sun doesn’t shine, it often blows. “Of course this is not always the case, but with a combination of wind energy and solar energy you have a much more regular supply of electricity than with alone,” says Engbert Klei. Together with his wife and sons, he owns a dairy farm in Dalfsen. The entrepreneurs milk 120 cows. They do this with the help of two milking robots. Since October 2019, the company has been generating all the necessary energy itself, with two wind turbines and solar panels:

Switch to a new BW10
“I switched from an old Aircon 10s to the new BestWatt 10. At a really low-wind location in southern Germany, the efficiency and increases compared to the old 10 kW system are enormous. Making our energy supply more sustainable and as clean as possible For me, it’s not just a question of efficiency. It is much more a question of responsibility and the feeling of contributing to a healthy future energy policy. Everyone has it in their own hands.”

“The overall picture is right here”
“First of all, my BestWatt 30 should give me and my company an economic advantage. Therefore, when choosing the manufacturer, it was clear to me which horse I would get involved with. I also find it important to know who is behind this company. and how the employees work. The overall picture is right here.”

“Is there anything nicer?”
“We farmers have to work hard every day to produce products that feed society. Harvesting existing wind and converting it into energy for the company allows the BestWatt 10 to work independently and also shows this future-oriented form of agriculture to the outside world. Skillful fills us with the feeling of doing the right thing. What could be nicer?

“Technology van de groten”
“My agricultural business with direct marketing has a high energy consumption, which is why I have been dealing with the topic of self-production of electricity with a small wind turbine for some time. We here in the north, close to the coast, are familiar with wind energy. The fact that people with know-how from wind power work at BestWatt can be seen at BestWind at first glance. This was also a reason for me to choose BestWatt.”

“The important and right step”
“I have been running large wind turbines since 1994, and since 2005 an agricultural business in the eastern hill country SH, also with biogas and PV systems on the roofs.
I always wanted to cover my operational electricity needs regeneratively and therefore looked for a supplement for the “dark” season in addition to the PV electricity I used myself.
That’s why I installed the BestWatt 30 in July 2019 as an “island system” and was able to achieve my goal optimally and even fill up our 4 e-cars + the e-wheel loader all year round.
This is how I see the maximum added value implemented.
My electricity consumption from the public grid has reduced by 99.5% today.”

For the future generation
The Willemsen pig farm was originally a mixed farm and has been family-owned since 1903. In terms of the number of animals, the farm has grown steadily and over time the Willemsen family began to focus entirely on fattening pigs.
In modern pig farming there is a strong focus on reducing energy consumption. BestWatt solar and wind energy was selected for sustainable generation. These together generate more than 75% of the energy consumption.

A step in the right direction from an economic point of view
For the more than 1550 veal calves, there is a significant energy requirement for mixing the feed and all other activities.
In view of the positive energy policy of the municipality of Putten, the idea of an own wind turbine in combination with solar collectors soon arose. The combination in particular works very well. We have wind energy when there is little or no sun and vice versa.
This fits perfectly with the goal of being completely off the grid. This is currently not possible in the Netherlands, but when I look at my consumption and yield, I am almost self-sufficient.

A combination of wind and sun
Albert van Hell combines agriculture with chicken keeping and thus a power consumption of approx. 40,000 kWh. On the advice of BestWatt, a combination of wind and sun was chosen. The small wind turbine accounts for most of the energy production and has been supplemented with 100 solar panels. After all, the fans in the chicken coop run non-stop day and night. On hot summer days there is more ventilation and we have a lot of sun. The combination of photovoltaics and a wind turbine, for example, is perfect for supplying your company with self-generated energy.
